Dr. Muthulakshmi Narasimhan (Muthu) is a highly experienced Paediatrician with specialty fellowship training in General Paediatrics. Since 2003, she has been dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of children and their families, having trained and worked extensively in both Australia and India.
Dr. Narasimhan is proficient in all aspects of Neonatal health and development, including newborn resuscitation, as well as paediatric endocrinology and diabetes, developmental paediatrics, and general paediatrics. She holds specialist accreditation with AHPRA and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
A graduate of Christian Medical College, Vellore—one of India’s premier medical institutions—Dr. Narasimhan completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and paediatric residency there, subsequently serving as a Consultant Paediatrician and Assistant Professor for four years.
After relocating to Adelaide, South Australia, she gained further experience at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, and Lyell McEwin Hospital. Her advanced training included neonatology, paediatric emergency medicine, paediatric retrieval medicine, youth mental health, behavioural paediatrics, and adolescent medicine, culminating in her Fellowship of the RACP.
Dr. Narasimhan worked as a Staff Specialist Paediatric Consultant in Mildura, regional Victoria, where she also served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Monash Rural School of Medicine. She has contributed to paediatric textbooks, presented at international conferences, and published in peer-reviewed journals. Her commitment to medical education and mentoring has earned her great respect from trainees and medical students alike.
Now based in Ipswich, Dr. Narasimhan brings a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by families in regional and remote communities. She is known for her friendly, approachable manner and her dedication to delivering individualised, patient-centred care. Above all, she believes that every child deserves a bright and healthy future.
